There are 21 million bitcoin. Here's where every one of them is.

Each square below is 10,000 bitcoin. There are 2,100 squares, and there will never be a 2,101st. Scroll, and watch them get spoken for.

Figures gathered Saturday, October 3, 2026, at block 969,738.

One person's share if all 21 million were split evenly across about 8.2 billion people. That's roughly 0.0026 of one bitcoin.

The last coin arrives one satoshi at a time.

Every 210,000 blocks, about four years, the reward for mining a block is cut in half. The bars show how many new coins each era releases. Drag the slider to the end.

About 99% of all bitcoin is mined by around 2035. The final 10,000, the last square on the grid, takes from about 2053 to 2140 to fill. In the last era each block pays a single satoshi, and then the reward is zero.

How to read this

  • The groups don't overlap, so they add up to exactly 21 million. That's why there's no "long-term holders" group: that on-chain measure (coins unmoved for 155 days or more) already includes most fund, company and government coins.
  • Lost coins can't be measured, only estimated. Published estimates run from about 2.3 to 4 million including Satoshi's coins. This page uses 3.3 million in total: 1.1 million for Satoshi and 2.2 million for everything else.
  • "Everyone else, off exchanges" is what remains after every other group is subtracted. It's a remainder, and it moves if any other estimate moves.
  • Exchange balances differ by tracker, from about 2.7 million to about 3.5 million, depending on which wallets are counted. Fund coins held with an exchange's custody arm may appear in both the fund and exchange figures. A coin on an exchange is also not necessarily for sale.
  • The true cap is 20,999,999.9769 bitcoin, a hair under 21 million, because the reward is rounded down to a whole satoshi at each halving.
  • Era dates after 2024 are projections at ten minutes per block.
  • This page shows supply. It says nothing about price and it isn't investment advice.
